High-Rise Zero Carbon Retrofit

Critical Path Projects is currently managing one of Toronto’s most ambitious affordable housing retrofit projects. We are working with WoodGreen Community Housing and the CMHC on the transformation of a 21-storey, 160-unit seniors’ apartment building constructed in the late 1960s. This high-rise building retrofit aims to achieve net-zero carbon performance and dramatically improve resident comfort and safety, while preserving long-term housing affordability. Supported by the Canada Greener Affordable Housing program, the project includes comprehensive upgrades to the building’s envelope, mechanical and electrical systems, and common areas, with all work carefully phased to allow the senior residents to remain in place. Critical Path Projects coordinates the multiple consultant and contractor teams involved, managing the schedule, budget, and risk mitigation for this innovative retrofit.
